On Tuesday, Cumbria Police responded to reports of a Skoda traveling southbound on the northbound carriageway of the M6 around 4 p.m. Tragically, before officers could reach the scene, the Skoda collided head-on with a Toyota carrying a family of five. Among the injured was Jade McEnroe’s seven-year-old son, who was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in critical condition, where he remains in a fight for his life. A fundraiser has since been organized to support the family, and tributes have poured in, according to the Daily Record.
Nicola Thompson, a family friend, shared memories on social media, writing, “We grew up next door to Jade and her wonderful parents. I have so many fond memories. Life is cruel. I’m praying for [the child], such a sweet boy with his whole future ahead of him. Rest in Peace Jade McEnroe and your beautiful family.”
Meanwhile, Maggie Snodgrass offered her condolences, saying, “Rest in peace. My thoughts are with both families during this sad time,” while Nichola Smith added, “Rest in peace, Jade McEnroe. I hope you and your family have found peace. Prayers to your mum and dad. God rest you.”
Mary Brown also shared, “Rest in eternal peace, Jade, and your dear family. God has welcomed an angel.” Other tributes followed from Janice Mcguire, who sent love to the family, and Sarah Bryce, who posted, “God bless you, Jade McEnroe, and your family.”
Jaroslaw Rossa, a 42-year-old father from Glasgow, also lost his life in the tragic crash. He had worked at Wagamama in the Silverburn shopping center for eight years, where he was deeply cherished. Thomas Heier, the CEO of Wagamama, expressed his heartbreak, describing Jaroslaw as a “beloved chef and friend.” Though the police have yet to formally identify Mr. Rossa, his employer released a statement in his honor, noting the “lasting impact” he had on both his colleagues and customers.
Heier shared that Jaroslaw’s warmth, dedication, and kindness left a profound mark on those around him and extended the company’s deepest condolences to his family, for whom Jaroslaw had immense devotion. “His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him,” Heier added.
The northbound side of the M6 remained closed until Wednesday morning as authorities dealt with the aftermath of the devastating crash. Images shared on social media showed dark smoke rising above the scene.
In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe page was created to assist the affected families, and it quickly raised over £4,500 towards its £5,000 goal in less than a day.
