Stanley Smith dies in fatal Savannah Highway crash
Fatal Savannah Highway crash death of Stanley Smith – Obituary.
The Charleston County Coroner has identified Stanley Smith, 70, as the victim of a deadly crash that occurred early Wednesday, October 16, on Savannah Highway. Smith passed away at the Medical University of South Carolina at 5:15 a.m. due to injuries sustained in the collision.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved two construction vehicles that collided around 3 a.m. after one of the drivers, Kendall Hawkins, performed an illegal U-turn. Smith was one of three passengers in a trailer pulled by Hawkins’ vehicle, and all three were ejected onto the roadway. Smith suffered severe injuries and later died from those injuries.
Both Hawkins and the other driver, Rockarius King, have been charged with driving under the influence.
