Fatal Fitchburg shooting death of Kevin D. Price – Obituary
Authorities have released information about a critical incident that resulted in the death of Kevin D. Price in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, on August 12, 2024. Officer Peter Johnston of the Fitchburg Police Department, who has 14 years of law enforcement experience, is the officer involved in the shooting.
The incident began around 8:00 a.m. when police responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence on the 800 block of Whispering Pines Way. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who informed them of a physical altercation occurring at the location.
Once the officers confirmed the disturbance, they entered the home and found Price armed with a knife. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Price allegedly moved towards the officers, prompting Officer Johnston to discharge his firearm.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene and transported Price to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. Officer Johnston is currently on administrative leave, as per department policy, and body cameras were active during the incident.
