Fatal Maricopa County crash death of Jose Guillermo Castellanos Gonzalez – Obituary.
Two individuals lost their lives in a tragic multi-vehicle accident that occurred along Interstate 10, just south of Phoenix, as reported by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The incident unfolded shortly after noon on October 16 at milepost 169, approximately two miles south of Riggs Road.
According to DPS, traffic was moving slowly in the westbound lanes when a box truck failed to decelerate, colliding with a pickup truck and three additional vehicles. The impact propelled both the box truck and the pickup into the median, resulting in both vehicles igniting.
The driver of the box truck, 53-year-old Jose Guillermo Castellanos Gonzalez, and the driver of the pickup truck, 62-year-old Efrain Gutierez, were both declared dead at the scene.
In addition, two other drivers involved in the crash sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Following the incident, Interstate 10 was temporarily closed in both directions between Riggs and Casa Blanca Roads, but the roadway has since reopened.
