Jose Antonio Mejia-Gaona dies in fatal east Charlotte shooting
Fatal east Charlotte shooting death of Jose Antonio Mejia-Gaona – Obituary
Jose Antonio Mejia-Gaona was shot and killed in east Charlotte on Monday, October 14, near North Sharon Amity Road. Authorities identified the suspect as 41-year-old Julio Cesar Chacon Venegas, who was later arrested in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, October 19.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police traveled to Texas to interview Venegas, who has since been charged with Mejia-Gaona’s murder. Venegas will be extradited to North Carolina in the upcoming weeks. The investigation into the incident continues.
