Maryland State Police have identified 53-year-old Kevin Johnson as one of the victims in a devastating five-car accident on Interstate 83 near Parkton. The crash occurred on Wednesday, October 24, when Johnson, a resident of Ruther Glen, Virginia, lost control of his pickup truck, which was towing a trailer. His vehicle collided with a mobile crane driven by 61-year-old James Hutson from Ephrata, Pennsylvania, resulting in Hutson’s death.
Johnson’s truck crossed over to the northbound lanes, striking two additional vehicles and causing a massive fire. Four other individuals sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital in York, Pennsylvania, although their current conditions remain unclear. The accident led to the closure of both lanes of I-83 at the York Road exit from around 2:15 p.m. until early Thursday morning. A hazmat team was dispatched to the scene as a precautionary measure for potential fuel spills, but no charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
