A tragic accident on Interstate 20 has claimed the life of 68-year-old Scott Allen Burgess from Shelby, North Carolina. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, October 20, when Burgess’s vehicle collided with the trailer of a semi-truck.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place around 11 a.m. as a 2024 International truck and trailer was traveling in the outside lane behind a 2022 Freightliner truck. The Freightliner slowed down to navigate around debris on the road when the International truck experienced a blowout on its right front tire. This failure caused the International truck to crash into the rear of the Freightliner’s trailer.
Burgess, who was a passenger in the International truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
