Fatal DeKalb County crash death of Sandra Mashburn – Obituary
An unfortunate multi-vehicle accident in DeKalb County has led to the death of 70-year-old Sandra Mashburn from Albertville. The collision occurred on October 23, 2024, shortly after 9 a.m. on Alabama 68, near DeKalb County 478, approximately two miles west of Crossville.
According to state troopers, Mashburn was in a 2007 Ford Explorer that collided with a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. Following the initial impact, the Jeep veered off the road and caught fire. The Ford Explorer then struck a Chrysler Pacifica Touring van. Mashburn was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep sustained injuries and was transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment, along with a 13-year-old passenger who was also injured and taken to a hospital. Authorities noted that the teenager was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the incident.
