Sophia Hayes, an 18-year-old from Benton, Maine, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday in Rome. The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident on Watson Pond Road, where Hayes collided with another vehicle.
The Travis Mills Foundation arranged a landing zone for a LifeFlight helicopter, though it was later redirected. Hayes was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have stated that no charges are expected to be filed at this time.
