Grayson was driving on FM 535 when he was hit by Jorge Peralta, a 35-year-old suspected of being an undocumented immigrant. According to court documents, Peralta fled the scene but was apprehended by authorities. He later admitted to drinking five beers before getting behind the wheel.
Davis suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin, where he succumbed to his injuries three days later. His mother, Ashley Davis, expressed her devastation and highlighted the urgency for legal reforms to prevent similar tragedies.
State Representative Stan Gerdes echoed the family’s plea, emphasizing the need for better resources for law enforcement. As investigations continue, the family remains determined to ensure that no other families endure such a loss.
