An elderly farming couple, Jim and Carmel Madden, aged 81 and 80, respectively, have been identified as the victims of a tragic accident in Tower Hill, Victoria. The couple was killed when a truck crashed into their home on Friday, prompting an outpouring of tributes from their family, who expressed their devastation over the incident.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, where the impact caused significant damage to the front of the house, scattering roof tiles and wood across the yard. The Madden family conveyed their heartbreak on Friday night, stating they are “totally devastated by the tragic events.”
Authorities are currently waiting to interview the truck driver, a 70-year-old man from Portland, who sustained minor injuries in the crash. Major Crash Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill reported that the truck left the road and traveled up to 250 meters before colliding with the home.
