On Friday night, Justin R. Tietje, a 38-year-old motorcyclist from Duvall, King County, was tragically killed in a collision on Interstate 5 close to Grand Mound. The accident took place around 8 p.m. as Tietje was heading southbound near milepost 88.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Tietje’s motorcycle collided with an SUV driven by a 31-year-old woman from Lakewood, leading him to crash into a right-side barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock stated that Tietje was identified through fingerprints, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Fortunately, the SUV driver and her 35-year-old passenger sustained no injuries. The aftermath of the crash resulted in significant traffic delays in the area lasting over four hours.
