Monet Newton dies in fatal Glendale double shooting
Fatal Glendale shooting death of Monet Newton – Obituary
Monet Newton, 24, was identified as one of two people killed in a tragic shooting at an apartment complex near the 7900 block of West Union Hills Drive in Glendale. Glendale Police Department officials report that on October 15 at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers arrived at the scene and found Newton along with 22-year-old Chase Cooper, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators revealed that Cooper shot Newton before taking his own life. Newton had been anticipating her family’s arrival for her upcoming graduation, but after failing to pick them up from the airport, her family became concerned and tried to reach her. When they were unable to make contact, her family visited her apartment, where they ultimately found the scene and contacted police.
The Glendale Police Department’s homicide detectives are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
