Fatal Arlington Heights motorcycle crash death of Sean F. O’Brien – Obituary
Sean F. O’Brien, aged 44, has been identified as the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a collision involving two passenger vehicles and his motorcycle at Northwest Highway and Waterman Avenue on Tuesday evening. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when a blue 2010 Genesis coupe, driven by a 16-year-old, made a left turn directly in front of O’Brien’s red 2017 Harley Davidson.
Mount Prospect police quickly responded, deploying an AED and performing CPR on O’Brien, who was found unresponsive at the scene and unfortunately pronounced dead shortly after. Fire department personnel took over the emergency response efforts.
The teenage driver received citations for failing to yield the right of way and for not reducing speed to avoid the accident. A court date has been scheduled for November 21 at the Rolling Meadows courthouse. Preliminary investigations indicate that the young driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.
Northwest Highway was closed in both directions as authorities conducted their investigation, which is being supported by the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction unit. The Cook County medical examiner has reported that O’Brien died from multiple blunt force injuries resulting from the crash.
