Johanna and Daniel Newsome die in fatal Fort Worth crash
Fatal Fort Worth crash death of Johanna and Daniel Newsome – Obituary.
The tragic wrong-way crash on Loop 820 in Fort Worth on October 27 resulted in the deaths of 29-year-old Johanna Yoleth Newsome and her partner, 28-year-old Daniel Newsome. The couple was traveling in their Ford Focus in the wrong direction when their vehicle collided with a pickup truck.
The Newsomes were traveling east in the westbound lanes when the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Their vehicle struck a pickup truck occupied by 33-year-old Chelsea Cook, who died at the scene, and her fiancé, Evan Ranallo, who suffered serious injuries. Tragically, the Ford Focus caught fire, trapping the Newsome family inside.
Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances that led to the family driving the wrong way. It is believed that Johanna was driving and entered the freeway incorrectly at the Azle Avenue exit ramp. Following the collision, the vehicle fire caused extensive damage, complicating potential toxicology tests.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet publicly identified the two children who were also in the vehicle. Autopsy results for Johanna and Daniel are still pending, and authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to the Fort Worth Police Department.
