A tragic incident occurred in Richardson when a crash claimed the life of a 19-year-old girl and left several others injured. Alyia Khalid was identified as the victim who perished in the accident that disrupted traffic on North Central Expressway early Friday morning.

 

According to Richardson police, the collision happened just before midnight near Renner Road on southbound U.S. 75. Six family members and friends were outside their stalled Cadillac SUV in the HOV lane when a Lexus SUV, driven by 27-year-old Haley Taylor, collided with them. Khalid was among the group standing outside, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor, along with her 6-year-old daughter, was taken to the hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

 

The crash resulted in a chain reaction involving at least seven vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, and left at least 11 individuals with varying degrees of injuries. Alyia’s brother expressed the profound impact of her loss, describing her as a kind and funny person who aspired to become a physician. The family was in Dallas to attend a relative’s wedding and were participating in a traditional sleepover ceremony prior to the celebration.

 

As the investigation continues, Alyia’s family has set up a GoFundMe page in her memory, highlighting her gentle spirit and dedication to helping others. Meanwhile, traffic authorities have advised drivers to exercise caution on the busy Highway 75, emphasizing the need for attentiveness while on the road.
