Fatal Pleasant Hill motorcycle crash death of James Unfreed – Obituary
James Unfreed, an 18-year-old from Pleasant Hill, died on October 23 after a collision involving his motorcycle and a car at Contra Costa Boulevard and Dexter Drive. The crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. as Unfreed was riding his motorcycle northbound when a southbound car turned left in front of him at the intersection.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Medics transported Unfreed to the trauma unit at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
In a separate incident, authorities also identified Eduardo Anaya, 41, of Escalon, as the victim in an October 26 crash on Interstate 680 near the Rudgear Road exit. Anaya was killed in a three-car collision that happened around 6 a.m. No other serious injuries were reported in that incident. The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate both cases and is asking for any witnesses to come forward.
