Tad Fujioka dies in fatal Alaska bear attack
Fatal Alaska bear attack death of Tad Fujioka – Obituary
Tad Fujioka, a 50-year-old hunter from Sitka, Alaska, was found dead after an apparent bear attack while on a hunting trip in a remote wooded area. Alaska State Troopers were alerted to his absence on the evening of October 29, after Fujioka did not return as expected. Authorities, along with Alaska Wildlife Troopers and the Coast Guard, launched a land-based search.
Fujioka’s remains were discovered the next morning. Investigators concluded that he was likely fatally mauled by a bear, with initial reports suggesting it was a brown bear, the only species native to that area. Prior to the attack, Fujioka had successfully hunted a deer.
Alaska’s Department of Fish and Game warns residents and visitors on bear safety. They advise maintaining calm, avoiding direct interaction, and using bear deterrents like bear spray if approached.
