Jose Garcia dies in fatal Mesa hit-and-run

MESA, AZ — Jose Garcia, 54, was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident in Mesa on Saturday night after exiting his truck on Stapley Drive, according to the Mesa Police Department. Garcia had stopped his vehicle in the roadway to retrieve an object that had fallen from his truck while it was in motion.
As he was returning to his vehicle, a silver truck traveling northbound struck him and immediately fled the scene, leaving Garcia fatally injured. Police believe the vehicle involved is an older model silver truck that likely sustained front-end damage from the collision.
Mesa Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s vehicle to contact them at 480-644-2211. Investigators continue their search for leads in hopes of identifying the vehicle and its driver.
