Fatal Geneva car crash claims life of Carlos Diaz Jr. – Obituary
GENEVA, IL — Early Sunday, 31-year-old Carlos Diaz Jr. from Aurora lost his life in a single-car accident when he was ejected from his truck, according to Geneva police.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. near the junction of Route 25 and Fabyan Parkway. Geneva and Batavia police, along with Batavia Fire Department personnel, responded to the scene. Authorities reported that Diaz’s 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Fabyan Parkway before crossing into eastbound lanes and leaving the road near the Fox River bridge.
Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene. Although the truck’s airbags deployed, police stated that Diaz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Following the crash, the Fabyan Parkway bridge was closed until 9 a.m. while the Geneva Police Department, Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team, and Kane County Coroner’s Office conducted their investigation. Additional support was provided by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Geneva Emergency Management Agency.
An autopsy is scheduled by the Kane County Coroner’s Office to determine further details.
