Fatal Abilene motorcycle crash death of Joshua Harness – Obituary
Joshua Harness, 37, of Abilene, Texas, lost his life following a motorcycle accident on Buffalo Gap Road on Sunday, marking the city’s third motorcycle fatality of 2024. The collision occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the 4400 block of Buffalo Gap Road and involved Harness’s 2007 Harley Davidson Softail and a 2013 Ford Edge driven by a 71-year-old woman.
According to Abilene police, the driver of the Ford Edge was traveling north when she attempted to turn left into a private driveway, at which point Harness, heading southbound on his motorcycle, collided with the vehicle. Critically injured, Harness was transported to Hendrick Medical Center and subsequently flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he passed away early on Nov. 11.
Police stated that intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the APD Traffic Division, and police encourage motorcyclists to prioritize safety measures such as helmet use, reflective clothing, and daytime headlights.
