Fatal Rapid City crash death of Dustin Shawn Walz – Obituary

Dustin Shawn Walz, 44, of Rapid City, South Dakota, tragically died in a head-on collision on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Walz was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near mile marker 53 when his 2007 Mazda 3 collided with a 2001 Ford F-350 driven by James Mark Cunningham, also of Rapid City. Walz was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cunningham sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The incident is under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
