Fatal Atascadero pedestrian crash death of Emilio Garcia Mendoza – Obituary
Emilio Garcia Mendoza, 26, of Atascadero, tragically lost his life in a pedestrian crash on October 26, 2024, on Highway 46, near Klecks Road, at the San Luis Obispo and Kern county border. Mendoza stepped into the eastbound lanes of Highway 46 shortly before 9 p.m., directly in front of a 52-year-old man driving a silver Lincoln Navigator, who was unable to avoid the collision. Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol has indicated that alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the incident, which remains under investigation.
