Jerome Scholz dies in fatal Irving motorcycle crash

Fatal Irving motorcycle crash death of Jerome Scholz – Obituary

Jerome Scholz, a 38-year-old off-duty Irving police officer, lost his life in a motorcycle crash on Friday. The accident occurred around 4:40 p.m. in the 7800 block of Valley View Lane at Interstate Highway 635.

Responding officers identified Scholz at the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary findings suggest that another driver failed to yield the right of way while turning, leading to the multi-vehicle collision.

Scholz served with the Irving Police Department for five years and was a U.S. Army veteran. Irving Police Chief Derick Miller shared condolences for Scholz’s passing in a statement on Saturday.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
