Authorities have confirmed the identity of the 80-year-old woman who died in a tragic three-vehicle crash in College Station on Thursday. Margie Berry Smith, from Bryan, was a passenger in a sedan that collided with a pickup truck and an SUV at the intersection of Southwest Parkway and Texas Avenue. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband, the driver, was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. Tragically, the family dog was also found deceased in the vehicle.
The College Station Police Department responded to the incident with units from the Accident Reconstruction, Crime Scene, and Criminal Investigation divisions. The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with all northbound traffic redirected east on Southwest Parkway, and westbound traffic diverted north on Texas Avenue.
The driver of the sedan was hospitalized, though their condition is still unreported. The drivers of the pickup truck received minor injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by local authorities.
