Fatal Bedford Township hit-and-run death of Erika R. Todd – Obituary
Erika R. Todd, 43, of Erie, tragically lost her life late Saturday night in a hit-and-run incident in Bedford Township, Monroe County. Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash report at 11:59 p.m. on Smith Road, west of Telegraph Road.
Authorities stated that Todd was walking eastbound near the shoulder of Smith Road when an unidentified vehicle, also traveling eastbound, struck her. The vehicle fled the scene, leaving Todd lying on the roadway. Moments later, she was hit again by a westbound Honda Accord, which stopped after the collision. Tragically, a third vehicle, a Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound, also struck Todd while she was in the eastbound lane.
Todd was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Honda Accord and Nissan Sentra were not injured. Police noted that Todd was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident, and the involvement of alcohol or speed in the initial collision is currently unknown.
Investigators are seeking public assistance in locating the first vehicle involved in the crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 734-240-7548.
