Richard Wing, 55, lost his life in a tragic crash involving a suspected drunk driver early Saturday morning in Arlington. The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of North Collins Street, near Green Oaks Boulevard. Arlington police reported that Wing, riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, was struck by a pickup truck while attempting a turn in the center lane.
The driver of the truck, identified as 27-year-old Thomas Kelly Jr., was allegedly weaving through lanes when he veered into the center lane and collided with Wing. Witnesses reported that Kelly exited the vehicle after the crash, discarded cans into a nearby field, and attempted to flee on foot. A bystander detained him until police arrived.
Kelly refused a sobriety test but was arrested based on witness accounts, officers’ observations, and evidence collected at the scene, including beer cans. He faces multiple charges, including intoxication manslaughter, collision involving death, and tampering with evidence.
Kelly remains in custody at the Tarrant County jail, awaiting bond. Police continue to investigate the crash.
