Camilla Dawn Nichols dies in fatal Henrico County pedestrian crash

Fatal Henrico County pedestrian crash death of Camilla Dawn Nichols – Obituary

On the night of November 18, 52-year-old Camilla Dawn Nichols of Henrico was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident in the Fairfield District.

Around 10:45 p.m., emergency responders from Henrico police and fire departments arrived at the intersection of Azalea Avenue and Sandpiper Drive after receiving a report of a person down in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered Nichols, who had sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Nichols was walking in the left westbound lane of Azalea Avenue when a Hyundai Sonata struck her. She was subsequently hit by two additional vehicles. The drivers of all three vehicles remained on the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. Preliminary findings indicate that neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the incident.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Henrico police at (804) 501-5000.
