A tragic incident in Lancaster has left four people dead, including Janvi Maquindang, 21, Edwin Garcia, 24, and Christine Asa-Ca, 26, after a shooting and subsequent house fire early Saturday morning. A fourth victim, whose identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, succumbed to injuries at a hospital late Sunday night.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. at a residence in the 44500 block of North Tabler Avenue. Shortly after deputies arrived, a fire broke out in the one-story home. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in under an hour, but Maquindang, Garcia, and Asa-Ca were pronounced dead at the scene. The fourth victim was initially transported in critical condition before passing away.
A 16-year-old girl, who was also present at the time, managed to escape unharmed after calling 911 and hiding in her bedroom. Authorities rescued her shortly afterward, according to Lt. Steve Dejong.
No arrests have been made, and investigators are yet to identify a suspect. The motive behind the shooting and the cause of the fire remain under investigation.
