Fatal Columbus East Side shooting death of Robert Smith – Obituary

Robert Smith, 44, was tragically killed early Saturday morning in a shooting on Columbus’ East Side.

 

Authorities confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. on the 2000 block of Dana Drive. When police arrived, they found Smith in a van parked in an apartment complex parking lot. He was pronounced dead at 1:59 a.m. by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.

 

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect leaving the scene, traveling east on Dana Drive toward North Gould Road. Some described the suspect fleeing on foot, while others claimed he was in a white vehicle.

 

As of Tuesday, police have not identified a suspect or determined a motive. Investigators are urging anyone with relevant video footage or photos to share them with authorities to aid in the investigation.
