Lucy Yeates and Kole Cunningham, both 18, tragically died in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on November 14, 2024, on Interstate 29 in Atchison County, Missouri. The crash followed a police chase that crossed state lines from Iowa. The incident, which also involved their twin sister Aubrey Yeates, left her severely injured and hospitalized in Nebraska. The trio had been on their way to Omaha for a Billie Eilish concert when the tragic accident occurred.
The police chase began when a 29-year-old man from Bellevue, Nebraska, fled after allegedly kidnapping his 1-year-old son and the child’s mother. After dropping the woman off at a hospital, he continued driving south in the wrong direction on I-29, eventually colliding head-on with the vehicle carrying the Yeates siblings and their friend, Kole Cunningham.
The Yeates family expressed their devastation, describing the incident as “senseless and tragic,” and thanking the community for their support. A GoFundMe fundraiser for Aubrey’s recovery has already raised significant funds.
