A tragic accident occurred on the night of November 18, when 39-year-old Joshua Vaughn of Vernon, Alabama, was struck by a vehicle while walking along Highway 45, south of Aberdeen, Mississippi. The incident was discovered by a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy and a passing motorist shortly before midnight. Vaughn, who had reportedly left Columbus earlier in the day, was found lying on the highway with multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe that the vehicle responsible for the crash, a white Ford Mustang from 2000 to 2012, fled the scene. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
