Fatal Indianapolis hit-and-run death of James Lee Poole – Obituary

A pedestrian, 66-year-old James Lee Poole, was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning on the near northwest side of Indianapolis. The incident occurred at around 7:51 a.m. on the 2600 block of West Kessler Boulevard North Drive, where officers responded to a report of a crash. Upon arriving at the scene, police found Poole suffering from injuries consistent with trauma after being struck by a vehicle.

 

Poole was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries. The Marion County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity on Monday.

 

Authorities reported that the driver responsible for the crash fled the scene and has not been apprehended. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the incident, but no suspects or details regarding the suspect vehicle have been publicly released.
