Fatal Nashville bus hub shooting death of Braden Caldwell – Obituary.

A 16-year-old, Braden Caldwell, was fatally shot at the WeGo bus hub in downtown Nashville on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

 

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the Elizabeth Duff Center at WeGo Central, located on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Authorities stated that Caldwell and a 15-year-old suspect got into a physical altercation on the second floor of the station, which escalated into gunfire. Caldwell was struck by two bullets during the encounter.

 

Emergency responders transported Caldwell to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, but he succumbed to his injuries.

 

The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed due to his juvenile status, was identified through the assistance of WeGo security personnel. Police noted that station staff were already familiar with the teenager.

 

After the shooting, the suspect fled toward 5th Avenue North. He was apprehended at a residence in the University Court area shortly before 7 p.m. The 15-year-old is currently facing a criminal homicide charge in juvenile court.
