Authorities in Orangeburg are actively investigating the tragic shooting death of 14-year-old Zaquan Corbett Jr. The incident occurred on November 15, just before 5:30 p.m., near Wheeler Street and Nottingham Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire, and witnesses described a white vehicle speeding away from the scene. Multiple males were observed fleeing after the shots rang out.
Zaquan Corbett, identified by the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office, was tragically killed in the attack. Two other victims were also injured, with one airlifted to the hospital and another taken to the Medical University of Charleston. At the scene, police found several shell casings and a live round, but the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
