Fatal Cherry homicide death of Jaylyon Anthony Rucker – Obituary
The remains of 20-year-old Jaylyon Anthony Rucker, a resident of the Champaign, Illinois area, have been identified following their discovery near an old mine outside of Cherry, Illinois. The body was found on June 8, 2024, and the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death as a homicide.
Authorities are seeking any information that might lead to an arrest, offering a Crime Stoppers reward for tips. Cherry, located approximately 75 miles east of the Quad Cities and 125 miles northwest of Champaign, is the site of the investigation. The mine itself holds historical significance, having been decommissioned after a tragic fire in 1909 that claimed 259 lives.
