Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent identified the two teens who lost their lives in a crash last Wednesday near Arley Lacey Road and Blessing Road. The victims were 15-year-old Jovana Morales and 13-year-old Tamy Carmelo.
The vehicle was driven by 18-year-old Yeismin Ramirez of Albertville, who was arrested the following day. Ramirez faces charges including two counts of first-degree assault and one count of vehicular manslaughter.
Authorities reported that the vehicle veered off the road, striking a tree stump, a sign post, and a fence. Investigators confirmed alcohol played a role in the accident.
Jovana Morales was laid to rest at Memorial Hill Cemetery on Monday. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to assist her family, highlighting Jovana’s warm personality and enduring impact on those who knew her. “Jovana touched the hearts of many with her vibrant spirit and kind heart. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her,” the fundraiser states.
