Ira’Keeya Dawkins, a 24-year-old passenger, lost her life following an ATV crash on Old Hamer Road near Timberlake Drive in Dillon County. The incident occurred Wednesday night around 9:00 p.m., according to Lance Corporal Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that the ATV, a 2024 Polaris Sportsman, was traveling southbound on Old Hamer Road when it struck a deer, causing the operator and passenger to be ejected. Dawkins, who was the passenger, was transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victim as Ira’Keeya Dawkins. Further details revealed on Friday confirmed that Dawkins was not the driver but the passenger in the ATV at the time of the crash.
