Zachary Daniel Buzzetto dies in fatal Bluffton-area bicycle crash
Fatal Bluffton-area bicycle crash death of Zachary Daniel Buzzetto – Obituary
Zachary Daniel Buzzetto, 40, of Bluffton, was tragically killed in a crash on U.S. 278 on the evening of November 22nd. Buzzetto, a former resident of St. Helena Island, was attempting to cross Fording Island Road when he was struck by a westbound Honda Accord at approximately 8:32 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision took place near the intersection of Gateway Village Road, outside the Bluffton town limits. There are no crosswalks at this intersection, and the speed limit in the area is 45 mph. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene, and no criminal charges have been filed. All westbound lanes of the highway were closed for over an hour as authorities responded to the crash.
Funeral arrangements for Buzzetto had not been publicly announced at the time of the report.
