A Wheaton man, identified as Alexander Nesteruk, has passed away following a shooting in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident took place last Wednesday afternoon, just before 4:30 p.m., near Clark Street and Fullerton Avenue.
Nesteruk, 34, had been wandering the area for much of the day, reportedly acting erratically. Witnesses described him as harassing pedestrians, threatening people, and even hitting passing cars. Around 4 p.m., he encountered a man who was carrying a firearm.
Witnesses indicated that Nesteruk was shot twice, including once in the chest. After the shooting, the armed individual calmly walked away from the scene. Emergency responders transported Nesteruk to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Chicago police have made no arrests related to the incident.
