Fatal Silver Spring pedestrian collision death of Ron Franzese – Obituary

Two Silver Spring residents have been arrested in connection with a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in April. The incident, which took place on the evening of April 5, resulted in the death of 52-year-old Ron Franzese.

According to Montgomery County police, Thanh Phan, 71, was driving a white Honda Odyssey that left the roadway and struck Franzese, who was walking on a sidewalk near Randolph Road and Kimblewick Drive.

After falling into the road, Franzese was then hit by a white Acura driven by 27-year-old Jose Saravia Gonzalez, who fled the scene. The Honda minivan subsequently crashed into a tree. Franzese was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phan and Gonzalez were both charged with criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle. Phan is currently being held without bond, while Gonzalez is awaiting a bond hearing.

The tragic event has left family and friends grieving, with a GoFundMe campaign remembering Franzese as a loving father, husband, and dedicated colleague at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
