Fatal Fresno County fog-related crash death of Armando Jimenez Cadena – Obituary

Armando Jimenez Cadena, a 36-year-old resident of Del Rey, tragically lost his life in a fog-related collision in Fresno County on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of McCall and Parlier avenues.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Cadena was driving a Chevrolet truck west on Parlier Avenue with a female passenger. The truck came to a stop at a stop sign at the McCall Avenue intersection. However, as a big rig traveling north on McCall Avenue entered the intersection, the Chevrolet moved forward, colliding with the big rig’s right front. The impact wedged the truck under the big rig, causing severe damage and ejecting Cadena onto the roadway.

The Chevrolet caught fire following the collision, but a passing motorist was able to rescue the female passenger, who was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Sadly, Cadena was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the big rig was uninjured.

Officials noted that foggy conditions in the area likely contributed to the crash, as visibility was significantly reduced. This incident was one of several reported in Fresno County on Tuesday, with many attributed to excessive speed and poor visibility in the fog.

Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution during foggy weather, advising reduced speeds, the use of seat belts, and low-beam headlights to improve safety on the roads.
