Johnathan Morales dies in fatal Carson County pedestrian crash
Fatal Carson County pedestrian crash death of Johnathan Morales – Obituary
Johnathan Morales, a 31-year-old resident of Amarillo, was struck and killed late Monday night on Interstate 40 near Groom, Texas. The incident occurred at approximately 11:18 p.m., just under a mile west of Groom.
According to authorities, Morales was standing in the roadway when he was hit by a 2004 Roadtrek 190 Popular RV driven by 35-year-old Brandon Langston of Duncan, Oklahoma. Despite Langston’s attempt to avoid the collision by braking and swerving, the RV struck Morales.
Morales was pronounced dead at the scene by Carson County Justice of the Peace Kathleen Barkley. Langston, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed in the incident. Two passengers in the RV, Laura McCartney of Oklahoma City and Kevin Scott of Moore, Oklahoma, were also uninjured. McCartney was not wearing a seatbelt, while Scott was.
The Texas Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash. No additional details have been made available at this time.
