A man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in a driveway shooting near Lamar Avenue and West 94th Terrace, Overland Park police reported. Authorities have identified the victim as Raymon K. Thomas, a man in his thirties, who was known to live in the area. According to investigators, two men drove onto the block just west of Lamar, where one of the suspects exited the vehicle as Thomas walked toward a car parked in the driveway. He was shot multiple times, and witnesses reported hearing approximately 12 gunshots. The suspects fled the scene, last seen driving west on 94th Terrace.
Gary Mason, a spokesperson for the Overland Park Police, confirmed that the shooting appeared to be targeted. Descriptions from witnesses suggested the suspects were heavy-set men, with the shooter having a shaved or bald head. They were said to be driving a red or maroon late-model Ford sedan with Missouri plates.
