Dionna Samuel, 23, of Belleville, Illinois, was fatally shot Monday evening while working at a McDonald’s restaurant located at 588 N. 24th St. in East St. Louis.
The shooting occurred around 7:36 p.m., and Samuel was transported to Saint Louis University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m., according to the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Illinois State Police, who are investigating at the request of the East St. Louis Police Department, have not provided further details about the shooting or announced any arrests. This marks the second homicide at this McDonald’s location this year.
Samuel, remembered as a dedicated employee and a loving individual, leaves behind grieving family members and friends. A GoFundMe campaign has been organized to assist her family with funeral expenses.
