Manuel Correa dies in fatal Southcrest shooting

Manuel Correa dies in fatal Southcrest shooting

Fatal Southcrest shooting death of Manuel Correa – Obituary

Manuel Correa, a 46-year-old resident of Southcrest, was tragically shot and killed on November 27, 2024, in an alley located in the 3700 block of National Avenue. Despite bystanders’ attempts at first aid and the efforts of paramedics, Correa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities report that Correa was involved in a verbal dispute with a group in a nearby parking lot shortly before the incident. The argument escalated, leading both Correa and a man from the group to draw firearms and exchange gunfire. Correa was fatally struck, while it remains unclear whether the other individual was injured.

The group reportedly fled the scene, with some leaving in a white Lexus. Later, police tracked the vehicle to a residence in the Ridgeview/Webster neighborhood using an automated license plate reader. A search of the property led to the detention of several individuals and the arrest of one man on unrelated firearms and narcotics charges. However, he is not believed to be involved in Correa’s death.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the altercation are under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
