Fatal Newberry County shooting death of Kier Leon Marsh – Obituary
A deadly shooting took place early Thursday morning in Newberry County, resulting in the death of 31-year-old Kier Leon Marsh and leaving another individual wounded. Authorities are currently searching for those responsible for the attack.
The incident unfolded around 2:08 a.m. when a 911 call was made from a person who claimed he had been shot during a robbery attempt on Green Meadows Drive, just outside Newberry. Upon arrival, deputies discovered one victim shot in the lower torso near the home. The surviving victim informed authorities that another person inside the residence may have also been hurt.
Upon searching the backyard, law enforcement officials found the body of the deceased victim. The injured survivor recounted that a group of men had stormed the house, firing shots before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan. The wounded man was taken to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division assisted with processing the crime scene, and the Newberry Police Department is working alongside deputies to investigate the incident.
The coroner later confirmed the identity of the deceased as Kier Leon Marsh, who was from Broadway, North Carolina, though he had been living at the house in Newberry at the time.
