Fatal Canoga Park hit-and-run death of Markus Caldwell – Obituary
Markus Caldwell, 41, of Canoga Park, was killed Friday evening in a tragic hit-and-run accident on De Soto Avenue, just north of Gresham Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Authorities reported that Caldwell was crossing De Soto Avenue westbound when he was struck by a gray or silver vehicle traveling southbound. The driver did not stop and fled the scene. The collision occurred around 5:15 p.m., leaving Caldwell fatally injured at the scene.
The LAPD has issued a standing reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the hit-and-run driver. Detectives believe there were multiple witnesses in the heavily trafficked area at the time of the incident.
