Fatal Las Cruces car crash death of Kari Scholin – Obituary
Las Cruces police have reported that 55-year-old Kari Scholin lost her life in a tragic incident at the Imperial Sky Motel on Friday morning. A 59-year-old man, also present in the motel room, sustained minor injuries during the crash.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when 22-year-old Alan Leyva-Vasquez backed a Chevrolet Suburban into a motel room at 1865 W. Picacho Avenue. Scholin died at the scene as a result of the crash. Leyva-Vasquez was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with vehicular homicide, a felony. He is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center without bond.
