A tragic accident in Morganton, North Carolina, claimed the life of 64-year-old Danny Lee Scott on the evening of December 8. The crash occurred at the intersection of US 64 and Fisher Davis Road when Scott, driving a Chrysler 300, attempted to make a left turn and collided with an oncoming dump truck. Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife, who was a passenger in the Chrysler, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to UNC Health Blue Ridge. The 59-year-old driver of the dump truck suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a local hospital.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol conducted an investigation, finding no signs of impairment or excessive speed contributing to the crash. Authorities closed the road for about two hours while emergency services worked at the site. No charges are expected to be filed in connection with the incident.
